Seed Capital Bizkaia has closed the 2023 financial year with a total of 61 operations, for an amount of more than 4.3 million euros raised through the various funds and programmes promoted by the different funds and financing tools: Fund I, Fund Bi, FEIS, BAF, Start Bizkaia Fund, Konfekoop Seed Bizkaia, MicroEurope, Seed Capital Bizkaia Mikro and Crowdfunding Bizkaia.
Fund I
A total of 450,000 euros have been invested in a total of 4 operations.
The investment sectors in the portfolio are: energy (20.2%), ICT (18.4%), industrial (14%), metalworking (11.4%) and healthcare (9.5%).
During the 2023 financial year, 2 divestments have been carried out.
The fund currently has a total of 27 investee companies.
Bi Fund
A total of 4 operations supported for an amount of 1,040,000 euros.
The sectors that account for the largest percentage of the 16 companies in the portfolio are the industrial sector (62.5%) and biotech (11.2%).
During 2023, one divestment has been carried out.
FEIS, Entrepreneurship and Social Impact Fund
During 2023, the FEIS has participated in a total of 2 related operations amounting to 250,000 euros.
The SDGs to which the majority of contributions are made through the supported projects are: health and well-being, quality education, decent work and economic growth, and responsible production and consumption.
BAF Fund
Promoted in 2022, the Fund of Funds promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia has closed the 2023 financial year with a total of 5 operations amounting to 1,040,000 euros.
This fund aims to attract specialized funds in the following areas: cybersecurity, food tech, renewable energies and fintech
Start Bizkaia Fund
A new fund also created in 2022 by Seed Capital Bizkaia, with the aim of promoting those initiatives in preliminary phases with a clear innovative vocation.
In the 2023 financial year, a total of 3 operations have been approved for an amount of 280,000 euros.
The sectors boosted are: fintech (35.7%), Industrial (35.7%) and Silver Economy (28.6%), mostly.
Konfekoop
A new financial instrument promoted by Konfekoop and Seed Capital Bizkaia during the 2023 financial year, it is aimed at financing cooperatives in the Bizkaia territory through participatory loans.
MicroEurope
In February 2022, MicroEurope was launched in Bilbao, an initiative that brings together various entities in the microfinance sector at European level from a social approach and with a clear inclusive vocation.
2 investments have been approved.
Seed Capital Bizkaia Micro
In 2023, Seed Capital Bizkaia Mikro has granted a total of 39 loans for a total amount of 828,000 euros, with the average loan per company being 21,231 euros.
70% of the companies supported are led by people over 45 years of age. And 44% have no other source of financing.
Crowdfunding Bizkaia
It has ended the financial year with 2 rounds of financing closed through the platform, managing to mobilize a total of 145,300 euros.
