This startup based in Bizkaia carries out technological developments against noise pollution
Seen the different kind of problems for health and human relations that noise generates in our society and, in turn, the limited means available to tackle them, the startup Noismart emerged two and a half years ago thanks to the initiative of Leire Atxa, a “serial entrepreneur”, as she defines herself.
The activity of this company, which has, among others, the support of Seed Capital Bizkaia, is based in the business incubator (ZITEK) of the High School of Engineering in Bilbao; this firm receives support from them as well. It is aimed at solving the damage caused by noise pollution through a comprehensive approach. Therefore, Noismart offers not only technological products but also training and awareness services on noise and its consequences.
Noise as a major environmental problem
“The environmental problem that grows the most in Europe,” says Leire Atxa, “is noise”. “In Noismart – continues – we develop, manufacture and put in the market innovative products designed to record and control noise. But, beyond offering material resources, we provide a comprehensive consulting service focused on solving the multiple problems derived from noise pollution”.
New developments: Noisense
In the technological field of R & D & i, the Noisense measurement and control device is Noismart’s main achievement. It is an innovative device based on our own development, manufactured entirely in the Basque Country, which allows to display on a screen the noise level and to design specific plans to reduce noise pollution. For this, it combines the functions of a sound level meter (noise measurement) and a sonograph (graphic expression of that measurement), with the ability to collect and transmit data in different ambient conditions and to warn when the established limits are exceeded. “The innovation that Noisense incorporates, which we have protected with national and international patents, is the sonograph with data collection. This device can be placed in different places so that it captures data, uploads it to the cloud and sends it to a mobile device from where it is possible to carry out the analysis of the data it provides”.
“We have been involved in the Noisense development project for two and a half years and, despite the difficulties that arise and must be overcome, we are convinced that it is a product with a good future; a necessary product to manage the growing need in our societies to address the noise problem, which affects health, environment and above all, coexistence. The market, besides, exists, and the job is attractive, so we think that we should continue to bet on promoting our business project. You have to keep trying because those who don’t risk don’t win”.
