Its activity covers multiple sectors such as boilermaking, capital goods, metal structures, assembly and mechanical maintenance for industrial companies
Oizmet is a company dedicated to supporting the industrial sector in areas such as boilermaking, metal structures, armatures, capital goods, atmospheric deposits in carbon steel and stainless steel. Likewise, as a complement, it performs industrial assembly and mechanical maintenance for industrial companies. Located in Arrigorriaga, it was created in December 2012 by the initiave of Amaiur Zubiaurre, a young mechanical engineer from Durango who launched herself into the creation of an “innovative, dynamic and flexible” company, and “aimed at offering to companies optimal solutions that suit their needs“.
“I started from zero,” says Amaiur, who is at the same time responsible for the technical department and CEO of the company, “beginning with the commercial work as first step, which required a period of more than a year; later, establishing the workshop in a rented pavilion and with the minimum expenses; nowadays an excessively large structure limits a lot the prices you can offer“.
Positive assessment
Amaiur makes a positive assessment of Oizmet’s four years of active presence in the market, both for business and professional achievements. “We have had a big presence in the factories, where we have carried out manufacturing tasks and installed new equipment with its accessories, we have done preventive maintenance and we have dismantled existing equipment in factories to reassemble them again in other facilities. We have reached the current moment with several important orders“. On the professional development side, Amaiur considers that this time has greatly enriched her because it has meant taking on “an attractive job having studied mechanical engineering” and, in turn, working “in a very masculine world, difficult for a woman, in which the support of the good sales team has made things much easier for me“.
Oizmet works for companies in various sectors (engineering, cement, steel, chemical, paper, petrochemical, among others), to which it provides solutions tailored to their needs. In the field of boilermaking, it also provides services for different sectors, “all companies with any kind of production,” Amaiur points out, “require maintenance that requires boilermaking. We carry out metal boilermaking, in carbon steel, stainless steel or special steels; from drawing, supply and manufacturing phase to assembly and disassembly phase“.
Looking to the future, Oizmet wants to increase its portfolio of clients to whom it provides industrial maintenance services, since, due to their regular nature, they allow to increase the stability levels of workloads, invoicing and staff. “Winning market share in maintenance takes a lot of effort, but we think that it is the best way to avoid the ups and downs in our activity and to have qualified technical personnel, which in our sector is also difficult“.
Business approach
“In any case, we maintain the same focus on the business as at the beginning, that is, the commitment to the constant and innovative development of our products, which requires having manufacturing capacity, although we also carry out assembly, and, consequently, have our own workshop. We also continue to focus on allocating part of our activity to export markets, an objective that we are gradually trying to achieve, with work we do for France and South America”.
In order to develop new profitable and quality products and solutions, Oizmet has devoted its resources to acquiring the appropriate technological capabilities and infrastructures to achieve them. It has a large team of professionals specialized in offering on-demand solutions to the industrial sector. It also has a boilermaking workshop of approximately 1.000 square meters of useful area located in Arrigorriaga that allows it to manufacture its own products. Currently, it is undertaking a phase of investment in machinery. “The Mikro program at Seed Capital Bizkaia,” says the manager, “is helping us to finance a small part of these investments, which is increased in our case because we have to face a periodic expense for renovating machinery both in the workshop and for assembly work. We also need to reconfirm some of the works already pre-agreed in order to fully cover all the planned acquisitions“.
Amaiur Zubiaurre makes a “positive evaluation” of Oizmet’s more than four years of business history, not without “many personal sacrifices“. “It is exciting to see the satisfaction of our customers and the levels of quality in products and facilities that we have achieved“.
