Herko has been presented, an innovative project that generates employment, new opportunities and that is committed to a sustainable economy from Bizkaia.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia, through Seed Capital Bizkaia, has opted for this project, understanding that it represents an investment for the future in a strategic sector for the development of Bizkaia.

Herko Trucks, with its trucks with a 100% European engine powered by biogas, is going to be a key boost for the territory:

• It will have a positive impact on the environment, since Herko’s technology means a 98% reduction in CO2 emissions from the use of liquefied gas and 99% from the use of other alternative energies.
• It will have an immediate effect in relation to the generation of direct and indirect employment. 69 direct jobs will be created, of which more than 80% will be highly qualified profiles.
• It will contribute to strengthening the economy of Bizkaia and the Basque Country; From its new plant in Zierbena, an investment in industrialization and machinery of around 4 million euros is expected.
• It will play a leading role in the consolidation of Bizkaia as a benchmark in terms of sustainable mobility. In this year 2023, the deliveries of the first units of a total of 136 trucks planned for this year will begin.

In the foral entity we call the strategic plan that marks this mandate with the motto “Bizkaia egiten. Time to do”, and Herko, is a clear example of how the path is shown by doing.
